[Press Release] CarrierDirect named on Best Places to Work list by Crain's Chicago Business

CarrierDirect Earns Placement on Crain's Chicago Business List of Best Places to Work 2021.

Chicago, IL, April 16, 2021 - Crain’s Chicago Business announced on Friday, April 9 that CarrierDirect was honored with placement on its list of Best Places to Work 2021. Crain’s partnered with Best Companies Group to conduct research for this list. CarrierDirect ranked 75th on the top 100 list and 42nd in the small employer category. The methodology for this research consisted of a two-part survey to collect information from both employers and the employees.

Steve Dantas, CarrierDirect’s Chief Operating Officer, says it’s an honor to be featured on the Crain’s Chicago Business Best Places to Work list and to get to share the spotlight with so many other great companies in Chicago. He adds, “What makes this recognition special is that our employees value their work at CarrierDirect, and it’s their feedback and vote of confidence that helped put us on this list.”

In addition to the employee survey responses, factors like benefits, policies, and practices, were considered in the best places to work analysis. CarrierDirect is pleased to offer a number of benefits and perks including unlimited PTO, parental leave, health benefits, a 401K plan, cell phone and wellness stipends, development tracks, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

This year’s assessment was particularly unique with the pandemic causing a significant change in the way many of us work. CarrierDirect responded quickly to the pandemic, moving to remote work for all employees and creating meaningful opportunities for communication and team-bonding in this new virtual-first workspace. Leadership is dedicated to maintaining a culture of transparency and communication in any type of working environment. A weekly All Hands call and a monthly Town Hall were set to ensure appropriate updates were being shared and that the entire team had the space to meet up virtually at least once a week. These meetings also provided a forum for employees to ask questions and share their own feedback. All in all, this has helped build trust and facilitate a healthy work atmosphere.

Anesha Palmer, Special Projects Manager at CarrierDirect, comments, “We had all been so used to seeing each other in the office everyday. Being a small team, communication and transparency occurred organically on a daily basis in the office. Once we shifted to remote work, we knew we had to make thoughtful and intentional efforts to keep the flow of information and the vibrant culture alive in a new way. I’m impressed at how well leadership and the team have embraced these efforts. People have gone above and beyond to contribute to a productive, healthy, and fun workplace.”

The CarrierDirect Monthly Town Hall features a segment called “Values Shout Outs,” where team members can recognize other team members for exemplifying any of the CarrierDirect values. CarrierDirect’s values are:

  • Go the Extra Mile
  • Do the Right Thing
  • Speak Your Truth
  • Stay Hungry & Curious
  • Be Cool, No Ego

These values help drive the company culture toward excellence. Ryan Schreiber, Director of Engagement shares, “It’s great being on a team where I am confident that everyone is working hard, open to feedback and learning, and willing to share feedback and knowledge with me as well. It’s motivating and reassuring.”

Beyond work-focused engagements, the team also shares enthusiasm for finding new ways to connect and have fun. Virtual happy hours, active slack channels, and a virtual holiday secret gift exchange are just some of the ways the team maintains a close-knit and upbeat working environment.
